We love going to France and used to go quite often for the weekend but haven’t been able to for the last couple of years. We managed to arrange a weekend just before the school holidays and had an amazing time.
If you are ever looking for a weekend in France Le Touquet is perfect because it doesn’t take too long to get there from the Eurotunnel terminal and it is a really nice place to stay.
My Mum found a good deal on an apartment within a hotel in the forest area that was great for us as there were separate rooms, Lottie and Sam shared and I had my own, we liked it there and would stay there again.
We don’t do much when we go to France but always manage to end up filling the time! We go the Supermarket in Boulogne and stock up on our favourite treats- grenadine, monster crisps, carambars, chocolate tablet biscuits and Mum’s suchard chocolates and wine!
After we had done our shop we headed back into Le Touquet where we had a walk round the town and we got a crepe- it’s interesting seeing how quickly they can make them and the choice of fillings is amazing.
We then went to the beach which is really nice and clean. We had lots of fun there playing together and digging an enormous hole!
We made dinner in the apartment that night because Sam was really tired and when we got up the next morning it was another really hot day.
Normally we would go to Nausicaa in Boulogne which is an amazing sea life centre but it was such a nice day we decided to go for a long walk and a wander round Etaples to the port, we also found a little park that Lottie and Sam enjoyed.
We would definitely recommend Nausicca if you are ever in the area though- we have been there lots of times and it is always very interesting with some fantastic fish, jellyfish, penguins and sealions to see and lots of information about the Oceans and the Planet. We will be back there again soon!
Just before it was time to go back to the tunnel we had enough time to stop at our favourite restaurant, Chez Jules in Boulogne. It’s always busy so luckily we had booked a table. The food is fantastic but we go there because they make the best chocolate mousse in the whole of France- and we have tried lots!
Soon it was time to get the tunnel back home and get back to normal life. I hope we can have another trip across soon.
