Back to school

I can’t believe we are going back to school tomorrow. It felt like it would never come but at the same time feels like time has just disappeared.

We have been lucky enough to stay healthy during lockdown and for us it was only difficult because my Mum was shielded so it felt like a really long time before we could start seeing people again.

I am looking forward to getting back to school to see my friends and it will be better doing some of the subjects like science there than it was at home as we will hopefully get to do more practical things. I am not looking forward to early starts, homework and remembering masks for the bus.

I can’t wait for clubs to start up again and to hopefully be able to do hockey after school again as well as at the weekend.

The Summer holidays were really strange this year because we didn’t go on holiday or even for many days out really but we still managed to have a nice time and see some friends.

During lockdown and over the summer we have had three birthdays between the five of us so we have had a good time celebrating these- we even got a bouncy castle in the garden for Lottie’s last week which she loved.

Last weekend we set up our tent in the garden and my friend came over with his and we all camped out for the night which was a good laugh. We had a BBQ, toasted marshmallows and had hot chocolate while we tried to identify the stars and played some card games.

The other highlight of our holiday was the arrival of our two new ducks, Finn and Rose, who firstly kept us busy digging ponds and making sure the garden was safe, and then by generally entertaining us- they now come flapping up to us and have a little walk round us whenever we go out in the garden, it’s like they have been here much longer than they have.

Now it’s time to make sure the bags are packed and uniform is out, ready for the first early start in months.

Good luck to everyone going back this week!

Term Footwear and stopping the school shoes buying panic!

My Mum is feeling quite happy at the moment, she has already sorted out one of the jobs she hates the most for the school holidays and can tick it off her list! She has got our school shoes already and she didn’t even have to leave our house!

A while ago my sister tested Term Footwear’s wellies and loved them, she still wears them all the time and gets a bit cross when our little brother takes to try and walk in so I was pleased to try their school shoes for myself and see what she was making a fuss about!

I was able to choose a pair of Term’s school shoes a few week’s before the school holidays. We printed off the size guide and were able to measure my feet easily at home. Obviously then my brother and sister had to have a go too! Then we went on the website and choose the shoes we liked the best. There was a really good choice for children of all ages, with lots of styles, all which would have been ok for our school uniform rules. We ordered a pair in the size I had measured and they arrived two days later. My Mum was a bit wary about measuring me herself but they came in exactly the size we had checked and fitted perfectly.

I expected to have to wear them around the house a bit to get them comfy enough for school but actually they were comfortable enough straight away. My Mum said I should wear them before the holiday for a couple of weeks in case I grew again and didn’t get to try them (I am currently outgrowing all my clothes and think I am going to be taller than her soon!) but to try not to ruin them straight away! I think she was amazed that they still look as good as new two weeks later as that never happens. I have played football in them, run around the playground and even been to the park in them and they still look really good.

We would definitely recommend Term footwear for school shoes- I loved how comfortable they were and my Mum loved how much choice there was, how easy it was to order and how well they fitted. I am so happy not to have to be dragged out school shoe shopping next week!

Funky Tape Measure Review and a chance to win

Even though we are still in Lower School my sister and I have got 3 Teachers and 3 Teaching Assistants  to buy gifts for this Summer and it’s quite difficult to find new and interesting ideas for them all.

We were very happy when the people at Funky Tape Measure said they could send us one of their very funky tape measures to review for one of our teachers. We knew exactly who it would be perfect for- our maths and science teacher will love having her very own personalised tape measure.

We were able to choose from a large selection of designs and colours and add our own choice of message.

We went with a silver tape measure with a ruler picture and ‘you rule’ across the middle of it with her name at the top but there were plenty of other things to pick- lots of teacher designs and plenty for all other occasions you could imagine.

The tape measure arrived quickly and was in a nice box so it looked like a present. It was protected in tissue paper too which all made it look good.  The print was great- nice bright colours and very clear and the quality of the tap measure seems really good. I think my teacher will love this.

The Funky Tape Measure has a belt clip at the back and a lock for when you are measuring. It also has the measurements on both sides which are good for different types of work and it is rated as EC Class II which the people at Funky Tape Measure explain means it can be used by builders and tradesmen as well as just people who are doing DIY.

My Mum thinks these would be great house warming gifts and I know my Dad and Grandad would like them too so good for Christmas presents. I think I might get one for my own tool box at some stage too- they really are Funky Tape Measures!

The lovely people at Funky Tape Measures have offered one lucky winner the chance to win a tape measure worth £10.99  from the range in a design of their choice, if you aren’t lucky enough to win you can take advantage of free delivery on your order using FTMFREE at checkout for a limited time only.

Trutex School Uniform Review

Like most children I don’t get very excited about school uniform, I don’t mind wearing it but I don’t actually think about it that much. Considering that I spend most weekdays wearing either my uniform or a sports kit I probably should think about it a bit more…

It appears- as if by magic- clean and ironed on hangers ready for the week ahead most of the time and then other times it’s a last minute panic scrabbling around to get a jumper in the tumble dryer before we need to leave, but despite that the only time I really think about my uniform is when it is uncomfortable.

When I was asked to review Trutex school uniform I didn’t realise there was so many things you can think about with a school uniform. First off we had to choose which size I needed, which wasn’t too difficult because they have lots of sizing information on their website and then we had to decide exactly what we were going to order. I decided to go with the black trousers because even if it’s warm at this time of year there are still some days we have to wear trousers, such as for performances etc. I also thought the trousers would be a good idea because I could see if they were able to stand up to me running around and playing football in them then they would have to be good! I also picked a pack of two white shirts and a grey V-neck jumper.

The clothes arrived quickly and we opened them up to have a look before popping they through on a quick wash. The sizes came up really well- we had gone for the larger side of my size in the hope that they lasted after the Summer holidays and they were very good to what my Mum expected.

The trousers at first try were very comfortable and the shirt wasn’t at all scratchy. I was pleased because the collar wasn’t too tight and it didn’t irritate me at all having it done up. The jumper is my favourite though because it is so very soft- it’s really nice and fleecy inside- warm but not too hot.

When I wore the clothes to school I found them comfortable to wear all day and was able to run about in the trousers and didn’t get too hot in the jumper.

My Mum says that the clothes have all now been washed several times and they have kept their shape well, there is no fading on the jumper and they still feel as nice to wear. She has also tumble dried them too and they have not shrunk at all- apparently this is a very important with school uniform because it means they can be sorted out in a hurry on difficult days! I like that the jumper is still really soft even after several washers.  Mum thinks they are really good quality and says she will be buying Trutex products for us all in the future.

Whilst I still don’t think about school uniform a great deal I would recommend everything I tried in the Trutex range as being comfortable and practical and would suggest that when the time comes to take your children shopping for new uniform you don’t drag them round loads of different shops making them try on tons of different things but instead check out Trutex and find your nearest school uniform stockist
